I loved your mother's determination and sweet spirit, I was fascinated by her stories of the horrible situations her family faced during the war years yet she never became bitter and made a good life for her family here in Canada. Perhaps I could relate because like her our family came to Canada leaving everything we knew behind as well. I'll miss our chats, it was so sad that Covid restricted our get togethers the past few years.

Erna affectionately called "mom", was the best cook. I remember visiting and she would make a cottage cheese cake that was so good! And another dessert called Khela (I'm not sure about the spelling) that was so good either with cinnamon sugar sprinkled on it or just plain with jam, it was so good! Such a good person, very kind hearted, is greatly missed.
