Obituary of Carolyn Louise Bartel
It is with great sadness and considerable love that the family of Carolyn Louise Bartel announce her passing on September 18, 2022. Born February 27, 1943, Carolyn spent her 79 years living life to the fullest. She was known as “Gramma” to most who knew her, for her extremely caring nature and the fierce love she had for those around her. Carolyn was an avid snowmobiler, camper, excellent cook and card player. She always had fresh cookies and pies made, and a big pot of soup on for lunch for anyone who happened to stop in to say hi. It brought her endless joy to gather with her family and friends.
Carolyn was born on the family farm near Watrous, SK where she spent 18 years helping with farm labour and caring for her 5 younger siblings before she moved to Saskatoon to further her education. In the early 1960s, she began her teaching career. Between her passion for teaching and volunteering, Carolyn spent over 50 years in the classroom, shaping the lives of future generations. In the early years of her career, Carolyn also found the love of her life. Her and Bob married in 1963, and began growing their family together. They happily celebrated their 59th anniversary in August of this year.
Carolyn will be forever remembered by her husband, Bob, daughters Cathy (Mark), Karen (Dewey), grandchildren Shauna (Aaron), and Logan. Carolyn has one great grandson, Kovi, who lit up her whole world.
The family would like to thank the nurses at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital as well as the staff at Saskatoon University Hospital. We would also like to thank her many friends that fought alongside her and supported her during this journey. At Carolyn’s request, there will be no formal service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Agency.
