There are no words....but so many words. I've never met a man that could put you at ease within seconds, that never judged, and saw the true beauty of every person he met. Mike's quick smile, his big laugh, and intelligence just made you want to spend as much time with him as you could. That was hard to do though because Mike was always on the move. A true entrepreneur Mike never hesitated about taking risks. Mike was also generous. I was a guest at the ranch, as well as some awesome dinners. Mike flew his dear friends from Cuba to experience true Canadian life, and toured them around BC. Mike invited me to go to Cuba on their next trip. Sadly, I never was able to share this with Kim and MIke as Covid took the opportunity away.
What I loved the most though was seeing Mike and Kim together. They truly brought out the best in each other, were one of the lucky ones that found true love. I would enjoy hearing about the practical jokes they played on one another. Mike could be a very serious guy, I witness more than once Kim going along with Mike in some heavy proposal until Mike would figure out that Kim was pulling his leg. Mike would break out in that legendary smile and start laughing, totally defusing the moment. Kim was always working by Mike's side, either on the roof roofing with Mike, or hauling some log on a truck on the property, or spending hours side by side bringing trucks from the USA. They were so good together that it made me have hope that true love actually existed in the world.
"Love is all we have, the only way that each can help the other" Euripides, Orestes, 408 B.C.
Kim let love surround you and help heal you at this loss of magnitude proportions. To the family in California, I'm so sorry for your loss I can feel your sadness all the way up to the West Coast.
I will miss seeing Mike, learning from him, and I will especially miss seeing Kim and Mike together.
All my love, Dale
