Obituary of Wayne Allan Hanrahan

It is with profound sadness the family of Wayne Allan Hanrahan, 72, of Quesnel, B.C. share the announcement of his passing. Wayne passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones November 14, 2024, in the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia in Prince George, B.C.

Wayne was born on September 2, 1952, in Dawson Creek, B.C. He was a fraternal twin and would often tease his “older” sister, Wendy, as she was born 20 minutes before him. He was third of seven children, and often spoke of adventures they had growing up in and around Pouce Coupe, B.C.

In high school he met his soulmate Debbie. They married on October 28, 1972, in Dawson Creek, B.C. and immediately started a family. Shortly after, they moved to Quesnel, B.C. where Wayne began a long career with Cariboo Pulp & Paper. He earned a trade as a Millwright and was well respected and admired for his ability to fix just about anything. After 45 years he retired to live out his days caring for and spending time with the love of his life and best friend, Debbie. They loved nothing more than being with family, especially their grandkids, and would do anything for them. Wayne and Debbie also enjoyed going for long drives on the back roads. In their younger days they loved camping, fishing, and hunting and passed on their skills to many family members. Wayne loved music, western movies, crossword puzzles, going for coffee with friends and being with loved ones. He was also very entertained by the drama of American news. Wayne had a great sense of humor and quick wit.

Predeceased by his parents Walter and Jodis Hanrahan (nee Bjornson) and just 5 short months ago, his beloved wife Debbie Hanrahan (nee St. Germain). He leaves behind his loving children Michael (Lee-Anne) Hanrahan, Linda (Brad) Emslie, grandchildren Jayden and Lane Emslie and Lucas and Jacob Hanrahan, siblings Ed (Donna) Hanrahan, Wendy Hanrahan (Ken Coombs), Marie (Dave) Logie, Jim Hanrahan, Larry Hanrahan (Annette Boulley), Darral Hanrahan as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life and Internment Ceremony will be held for Wayne in the Spring of 2025.

Look for me in Rainbows

Time for me to go now, I won’t say goodbye;

Look for me in rainbows, way up in the sky.

In the morning sunrise when all the world is new,

Just look for me & love me,

As you know I love you.

Time for me to go now, I won’t say goodbye;

Look for me in rainbows, high up in the sky.

In the evening sunset,

When all the world is through,

Just look for me & love me

And I’ll be close to you.

It won’t be forever, the day will come & then

My loving arms will hold you,

When we meet again.

Time for us to part now, we won’t say goodbye;

Look for me in rainbows, shining in the sky.

Every waking moment and

All your whole life through

Just look for me & love me,

As you know I loved you.

Just wish me near to you

And I’ll be there with you.
