Obituary of Kathryn Margaret Moffat

Katy Moffat (nee Moxley) passed away on July 2 at the age of 93.  Katy was raised in Moose Heights and moved to the Moffat Ranch at Alexandria after her marriage to Harry Moffat.

Katy was well known in the community for her hospitality with coffee and cookies or cakes ready for company and there was often a card game involved.  She was active in the Women's Institute, Alexandria Hall Committee, was a School Board trustee and wrote the Alexandria News for the Cariboo Observer. She curled at Dragon Lake and Quesnel rinks as a skip, golfed, fished and loved to travel, having been to many parts of Mexico, England, Scotland, Ireland and, especially Australia where she went many times, as well as across Canada and many parts of the USA.

Katy was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry, sister Carrile Yorston, brothers Fred and Wilbur Moxley and sister Jim Kohanko.  She is survived by her son David Moffat (Margaret) and daughters Susan LaFrance (Paul) and Christine Dunlop (Tom), as well as 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Maeford staff, the nurses on the 2nd floor of the hospital and Dr. van Dyk for providing quality care with kindness.

A memorial service will be held on August 10 at 1pm at Clayton's Funeral Home, 582 Front St., Quesnel.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the BC Cancer Society.
