Obituary of Robert Orville Bartel

It is with great sadness and considerable love that the family of Robert Orville Bartel announce his passing on March 26, 2024. Born May 3, 1942, Bob spent his 81 years living life to the fullest. He was known as “Grandpa” to most who knew him, and was always appreciated for his steady and quietly strong demeanor. Bob was an avid snowmobiler, camper, fisherman and card player. He enjoyed homecooked meals surrounded by his family and friends followed by several games of crib or canasta.

Bob was born on the family farm near Drake, SK where he spent his early years helping with farm chores. He spent his time doing odd jobs on and off of the farm in the Watrous area until he found the love of his life, Carolyn. Bob and Carolyn married in 1963, and began growing their family together shortly after moving to Wells, BC. They happily celebrated their 59^th wedding anniversary in August of 2022, one short month before Carolyn’s passing.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Bob has been reunited with Carolyn. He is fondly remembered by his daughters, Cathy (Mark) and Karen (Dewey). His grandchildren Logan (Saige), Shauna (Aaron), Kailee (Carl), Courtney; and great grandchildren Kovi, Maddy and Brian. He is also survived by his nine siblings and extended families.

 We would like to thank his friends and extended family that fought alongside him and supported him during this journey. At Bob’s request, there will be no formal service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
