Obituary of Roy Russell Charest
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Roy Russell Charest after a short battle with cancer on February 5th, 2023 with his wife at his side in G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel, BC.
Predeaced by: His father Marcel in 2004, his mother Alice in 1977, sister Elsie in 1957, brother Bert in 1999, brother Floyd in 2011, and sister Marilyn in 2019.
Survived by: His wife of 56 years, Elda, his sons Ron (Jamie) Charest, Ryan (Tracine) Charest and Daughter Kyla (Ryan) Hamilton, his grandchildren Jordan Charest (Jason), Tristen (Ryan) Vadnais, Kelsey Charest, Alyssa (Skyler Demers) Charest, Travis (Savannah) Charest, Darian Hamilton, and Dawson Hamilton. Roy is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Karlie Scott (Rory), Dan Scott (Brooklyn), and David Scott, as well as great grandchildren Aurora and Anastasia, Rhett Vadnais, Jack and Alyce, Benjamin and Josie. Brothers Marcel (Marj), Richard (June), sisters Helen Foisey, Marie (Joe) Sanesh. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and ex-daughter-in-laws Renee Aerial and Melany Austin.
Roy was born in Elk Point, Alberta on March 5, 1946. He moved to Lumby with his family in 1952. He spent most of his life in Lumby working as an auto mechanic at Marcel’s Esso and then had his own shop called R&E Mobile for a number of years until retired. After Elda retired in 2017, they moved to Quesnel and enjoyed travelling and camping for many years.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at GR Baker Memorial Hospital for their loving care while Roy was sick.
Funeral arrangements by Clayton’s Funeral Directors, with no service at Roy’s request. Roy will be interred at a later date with close family.
