Obituary of Judith Anne DesBrisay

Judith (Judy) Anne DesBrisay
1938 – 2022

In keeping with her wishes, Judith died quietly at home after a day spent happily outdoors with her partner, Mike Cannell, and their two dogs.

Additional survivors are her adult children, Glenn and Heather and their families.

Judith’s exploratory and creative life featured work as a community health nurse and educator in urban, rural, and remote communities. She travelled

extensively throughout North and South America, including the Arctic/Nunavut and the Antarctic.  Judith’s love for and learning about diverse persons and

places was complemented by treasured experiences and encounters enjoyed at Taharti, the wilderness home she and Mike shared. Her passions combined

love of family and friends with concerns/actions directed toward environmental degradation, equity, and human rights. For fifty years, Judith created and

exhibited visual art internationally; her art works are held in countless private and public collections. She loved music too though it’s notable that Judith could

not “carry-a-tune”.

End-of-life rituals for Judith remain private. Interested individuals are invited to shape personal reminders in her memory. Judith acknowledges the work

done by Dying with Dignity in regard to end-of-life realities and choices.
