Obituary of Meta Grosz
Meta was born in Russia to German-speaking parents. Her family emigrated when she was only 3 years old. They settled near Edmonton in New Sarepta where they farmed. Meta enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with animals. Her favourite animals were dogs and cats.
She worked in various retail jobs over the years, at a grocery store, bakery, and latterly managing Copp’s Shoes in Quesnel.
Her husband, Bob and she had 2 daughters. She sewed all the girls’ clothes, besides doing knitting, gardening and reading in her spare time. Music was a big part of their home as both daughters learned piano. In retirement, Meta took up oil painting and discovered and amazing talent.
She and Bob travelled extensively in their truck and fifth wheel, criss-crossing the continent and driving twice to Mexico. They were members of the Alliance Church and did much volunteer work for the church as well as for Good Cheer.
Meta was predeceased by her loving husband. She is survived by daughters Marilyn (Roland) Caron and Carol (Ken) Oakley and granddaughter Karen Bruvold.
Those wishing to honour Meta’s memory by way of donation may do so to Dunrovin Park Lodge or the Alliance Church Missionary Fund.
There will be a Graveside Service at the Quesnel Municipal Cemetery, on Sunday June 12th, 2022 at 1 p.m. All are welcome.
