Roger was a dear friend and ingenious problem solver. Over the 43 years of our friendship, we were often the recipients of his unique skill set. During our annual get-togethers to the cabin, Roger helped us devise a solar shower using discarded materials. It not only allowed us to stay clean, it served us well for over 20 years. You had to be careful when you used the shower, though, when Roger was around. That video camera would start whirring and the door would creep open, Roger grinning, asking if you were enjoying the shower. Then the infectious laugh!
Boxing Day together quickly became a tradition with our families. Roger would ask/warn the neighbours – okay to use your driveway as our sliding hill? Then we would spend the day sliding and sometimes colliding down the hill, Roger always willing to give us a haul back up using the snowmobile. With Roger, though, you had to make sure you were alert, because tricky corners were not to be navigated with caution, but more speed and a loud Yahoo!
When Roger could no longer travel, he was still keenly interested in what we were “up to”. His curious and sometimes devious mind more than made up for his lack of mobility. He will be missed. Mike and Gloria Weber send our love to the family.
