Obituary of Mary Agnes Johnson
Mary Johnson of Quesnel, British Columbia, passed away on September 24th, 2021 following a long and bravely fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
Mary Agnes Royle was born on August 22, 1950 in Alert Bay, British Columbia to Agnes Janet Robertson Royle and Arthur Stewart Royle. Mary moved from Alert Bay to Victoria in 1957 and also lived in the Lower Mainland and Prince George before eventually settling in Quesnel in 1980. Mary was the owner/operator of Kits Cameras in Maple Park Mall from 1980 until 1986 and the store manager of Black’s Cameras from 1986 until 2001. Mary then became the Human Resources Manager for the Quesnel Wal-Mart store until her retirement in 2015. Mary took great pride in the relationships she built with her customers and co-workers throughout her career.
Mary was an active member of the Quesnel Lions Club, the Quesnel Campfire Singers and the Quesnel Photography Club, and enjoyed camping, quading, travel and spending time with her many good friends.
Mary is survived by her husband of 35 years, Clifton Lee Johnson, her daughters; Amanda (Boatwright) Daly (Sean) of Squamish, B.C., and Courtenaye (Boatwright) Johnson (Brian) of Goose Creek, South Carolina; grandchildren, Rylan Daly, Rhys Daly, Owen Johnson and Kendal Johnson; siblings Wes Clarke (Edie Hein), Jane Logan (Mike), Ethel Rumple (Garry), Dan Royle (Sally), Joe Royle and Laurie Vibe; uncle, Bill Robertson as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Mary’s family would like to express their gratitude to the cancer care team at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital as well as their friends and family for their incredible support and compassion throughout Mary’s illness.

A memorial in Mary’s honour will be held at a future date.
