Obituary of Wilf Doucette

The family of Wilfrid (Wilf) Doucette sadly announce his passing at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital, Quesnel, B.C. on September 9, 2020 after a brief battle with lung cancer, he was 77 years old.

Wilf was born June 8, 1943 in Laventure, Saskatchewan, the third of five children. He fell in love with Celine (Denis) and they married May 30, 1964. Together they moved their young family to BC in 1969. They both worked hard to create a new life in Quesnel, creating new friendships and support networks, his brother in law Sid Klics was one person in particular he grew very close to and considered him to be like a brother.

Many will remember Wilf for his passion for the forest, there he was truly happy. He worked in the logging industry, finding his way to become an owner operator log hauler. He tried to retire but the love of the bush called, he finishing his working career as a grader operator of the bush roads. His care and attention ensured a safe work day for the many men and women who traveled his route. Wilf and Celine were also kept very busy with their real estate investments.

Wilf was a lively man who enjoyed house parties, singing, playing the guitar or violin with his father and uncles while his many relatives and friends would dance and cheer them on. Wilf was an athlete and teacher. He played ball and hockey when he was a young man then taught his daughter and son to play ball. He taught them much more than how to be good at sports, he taught them patience, thoughtfulness and kindness.  He welcomed Barb and Hope into the family with open loving arms. When his grandchildren arrived he taught them how to fish, camp, ATV and approach life with a calm, quiet thoughtfulness. He leaves Ben, Jenna and Kaitlyn with many happy memories. Wilf loved his family unconditionally.

After retirement Wilf had time to enjoy his large circle of friends who he would regularly meet for happy hour, cards, sharing stories and enjoying the outdoors.

Survived by his loving wife Celine of 56 years and his daughter Lee-Ann (Dan) son Don (Barb), three grandchildren; Ben, Jenna and Kaitlyn. He leaves behind siblings Marcel (Anna), Maurice (Cathy), Paulette (Larry) and Armand (Bernie)
