Obituary of Paul Norgaard

It is with great sorrow that the family of Paul Gerald Norgaard announce his passing on April 3^rd, 2020 at the age of 77.

Paul passed peacefully after an extended hospital stay, in the compassionate care of Dunrovin Hospice in Quesnel.  His beloved wife Shirley was at his side.

Paul was born on June 4^th, 1942 in New Westminster, BC.

Paul’s passing was preceded by his: Father Paul Norgaard Sr., Mother Lillian (Halderson), Brother Roger, and his beloved Children; Ruben, Gary and Debra; his Son in Law Allen; and a cherished grandson, Luke.

He is survived by his Wife of 57 years, Shirley; Daughters Leanne Robertson and Rose (Corey) Elgin; Grandchildren Tyler, Justine, Ryan, Aleisha, Becky, Caleb, Kody, Katie, Brianna, Theren; and his 8 adored Great Grandchildren.

Paul will be missed more than words can convey.  With his passing we’ve all lost an enormous part of our hearts.  He wasn’t just someone that you knew or liked; he was this bright, cherished presence in the lives of everyone around him.  He loved (and was loved by) a lot of people and those people were made incredibly fortunate by that.

Paul was a very kind and calm person.  He had a cheeky sense of humour and a quick wit.  Most of all though, he loved the people around him deeply and unconditionally.  He made each and every one of us feel like we were his whole world.  No matter the time or distance between us, we always knew how truly he felt that adoration.

The love for (and marriage he had with) his Wife Shirley might have been his biggest gift to our family.  Through 57 years of marriage and so much hardship and loss; they still managed to lead with love, laughter and an infinite devotion to the people they care about.  Something that we hope we can all honour and carry on in his absence.

Currently there is no Memorial date set.  We are incredibly thankful to the staff at Dunrovin Hospice House for the compassionate care they provided to Paul, under the current difficult circumstances.  We would also like to thank those who took time to supply home cooked meals to his Wife Shirley throughout his hospital stay.  Your kindness and effort is greatly appreciated.  Gratitude to everyone who has offered help or sent condolences.  Lastly, thank you to Clayton’s Funeral Home for your compassion and for making a difficult time easier to bear.
