Obituary of Trevor William Lew Crouse

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend; Trevor William Lew Crouse, on November 22, 2019 in Quesnel, BC, at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital. After facing his cancer recurrence with dignity and courage, he lost the battle against a very aggressive form of Non- Hodgkinson’s Lymphoma.

Born on September 23, 1944 in Sheridan, Manitoba, Trevor did not arrive alone. Along with him, a twin sister came too. “Forever Buds”, he and Trudy also have two older sisters, Donna, and Carol. Trevor and his siblings where raised on Vancouver Island in Cedar, B.C. for several years, later moving over to Vancouver, B.C. In 1961, Trevor joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, becoming a Corporal and studying the trade to become a Plumber/Gas Fitter.

He leaves us with many wonderful memories of his fun-loving zest for life, his sense of humor, his friendliness, helpfulness, and kindness to all. Trevor enjoyed nature and being in the outdoors: fishing, golfing, camping, hiking, gardening, baseball, curling, and walking. Trevor was also a true animal lover, having grown up and greatly caring for many dogs and cats. Engaging in new information and skills, Trevor enjoyed learning and was great at patiently teaching. Trevor was also an avid volunteer in his community where he lived at Fraser Village. Starting out as a resident, he then enjoyed helping others in this community. His past experiences in managing, plumbing/gas-fitting, and handyman skills, qualified him to become Vice President and then President, which was greatly appreciated. He was the kind of person to give you the shirt off his back, always offering a hand to assist in any way. His compassion, love, and guidance will indeed be missed.

He will live on in the hearts and minds of his beloved family. He is survived by his daughters; Karla Hartridge (Dustin Hartridge) & Kaaralee Carlson; sons Brent Crouse and Bradley Crouse; Grandchildren Liam Hartridge, Nicolas Johnson, Brendan Johnson, Justin Carlson, Ciara Crouse, Kiana Hayes, and Chase Crouse; siblings: twin sister Trudy Bentley (Willard Bentley); oldest sister Donna Hewson (Ron Hewson); special friend and companion Madeline Pitzel, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Trevor is predeceased by his wife Mabel Louise Crouse (nee Gill), father Manley Crouse, his mother Winnifred Crouse (nee Phipps), middle sister Carol Snowden and brother-in-law Ronald Snowden.

Trevor leaves behind a proud and grateful family who will miss him dearly. We’d like to give a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Helene Smith, Dr. Ahamed Aziz, Dr. Gavin Grapes, Dr. Jonathan Fine and all the caring nurses and medical staff that took such wonderful care of Trevor both inside the hospital and out. As well, we would like to extend a huge thank you to the remarkable staff of Clayton’s Funeral Directors. We appreciate your sincere, compassionate care.
