Obituary of Dan Karey
Daniel Theodore Karey (Dan) passed away peacefully at the Dunrovin Hospice the evening of January 11, 2019 at age 69. He will be sadly missed by his wife Patty, son Paul, daughters Julie and Melinda (Chris) and grand-daughter Ellie. He was predeceased by his brothers Raymond, Pat, Mike and Ralph, and his parents, Ted and Eva Karey. He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Since his retirement in 2010 he enjoyed camping and fly-fishing every summer, and also loved to travel. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting. He worked in a local sawmill from 1968 to 2005, the final thirty years as a certified saw filer.
During his life he was a do-it-yourself kind of guy, and was skilled at many things: woodworking, knife making, home renovations, auto repairs…. He was also very social – would talk to anybody, often leaving his wife standing tapping her foot while he chatted with friends or acquaintances in the store. In his childhood he played baseball and hockey, choosing high-stress positions of pitcher and goalie. As an adult he excelled at archery and has many medals and trophies to his credit.
The family is very thankful for the compassionate care shown by the doctors and nurses in the last three months of his illness. We also thank the many friends and family members who were so supportive during this long process.
A celebration of life will be hosted by the family on April 20that New Life Church at 2:00 pm.
We invite friends and family to come and share memories and stories of this well-loved Husband, Father, and Friend.
