Obituary of Dorothy Sonia Houseman
We regret to announce the passing of Dorothy Sonia Houseman, our Mother, grandmother, great grandmother better known as Sonia.
Born and delivered in Quesnel BC by Dr. Baker on Sept 7 1931.
An only child of Howard and Dorothy McNeil, raised in Forest Grove, where she met and married Joseph Bradley in 1950, together they had 10 children.
After moving throughout BC they made a home in Quesnel where she lost her husband Joseph in 1978, in 1992 she lost her 2nd husband Jay Houseman.
She was devastated over the loss of her children, in 1951 her first born Joseph, in 2000 her son Howard then in 2013 her daughter Dawn.
She was a very loving mother and a treasure to all who met her. She was an intelligent, hard working woman. Life threw at her many challenges and she would accept each one and tackle them. She was a resourceful woman that had constructed herself a small home for her family. Along the way she was the plumber to auto mechanic and everything in between but still managed to maintain a house full of kids.
She loved her horses, gardening, crocheting, quilting, and reading.
She is survived by sons and daughters, Dorothy Boyne, Mark (Dale), Clay, Dale, Tami (Wayne), Shelley, and Dana. 16 grandchildren and 19 great grand children.
Words cannot express how sad we are of our great loss.
She will be laid to rest with her beloved Dad at Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops.
