Obituary of Sharron Prosser

(Please note that there will be a Celebration of Life for Sharron and details will be updated as they become available)

Sharron Anne Prosser was born March 14, 1944 in Calgary, Alberta to Samuel Thomas Howe and Elizabeth Anne Brown.  She suffered numerous health issues over her life including breast cancer, diabetes and heart disease which ultimately claimed her life on June 16, 2018 in the Prince George Hospital.

Sharron's early life was spent on her father's farm in Ferintosh, Alberta until at the age of 4 tragedy struck the family and her mother passed away from an inoperable brain tumor.  Her father was left with three young children to support and was forced to leave the farm and his children to find gainful employment in Calgary.  During this time, Sharron and her sister, Roberta and brother, Bud were sent to stay at their Grandparent's farm.  When her father married Peggy three years later, he sent for the children to join him in Calgary along with her new stepbrother Frank and stepsister Rene.  Sharron remained in Calgary until her teen years when she was sent to boarding school at the Seventh Day Adventist College in Lacombe, Alberta.

Sharrron met her first husband Keith Prosser in Lacombe, Alberta and married him at the young age of seventeen in Whitecourt, Alberta May 26, 1961.  One year later, after moving to Red Deer, Alberta, they welcomed their first daughter, Donna Marie.  Their second daughter, Deborah Marlene, arrived 19 months later.  Shortly afterwards, the family moved to Penticton, B.C. closer to Sharron's father who now lived in Summerland, B.C.  Due to some difficult circumstances, Sharron and Keith separated around 1969 and Sharron and her children returned to Red Deer, Alberta where they lived with Edward (Ed) Gerk whom Sharron eventually married in Summerland, B.C. in 1975.  Her life with Ed involved many moves… from Red Deer to Calgary to Edmonton to Nanaimo to Victoria to Hedley, B.C. where Ed died in 1993.  Sharron then moved to Kelowna.

After many years apart Sharron reconnected with Keith and they were remarried in Barkerville, B.C. on August 19, 1996.  Keith and Sharron resided in Quesnel and Sharron continued to make Quesnel home after Keith's death in March 2007.

Sharron had many careers over her life time including a stint in social services, as a dispatcher for a large gas company and owner/operator of two driving schools teaching many new drivers to drive cars, buses and large transport trucks.  In her mid-forties, Sharron returned to school and was very proud to graduate as a Licenced Practical Nurse.  Sharron spent several years working in both home care and in the hospital setting as a nurse and eventually as a nurse supervisor.

Sharron was predeceased by her husbands Keith (2007) and Ed (1993), her mother Elizabeth (1948) and father Samuel (1982).  She was also predeceased by her sister, Roberta (2008), half-sister Betty Jean (2009) and her brother, Bud (2014).  Sharron had a great love for her many furry companions that have gone before her.

Sharron is survived by her daughter Donna Marie Butler and her children Michelle Butler and Mark Morton.  Sharron spent a lot of time with Michelle and Mark as they were growing up and was very proud of their numerous accomplishments.  She is also survived by her daughter, Deborah Marlene Hughes (Rob) and her children Emma and Hannah Swan.  Unfortunately due to numerous challenges, Sharron only met Emma and Hannah once but we are sure that she would be very proud of their many achievements as well.
