Obituary of Beverley Elaine Brinkert

Beverley Elaine Brinkert (nee Magnusson)

Beverley passed away in the early afternoon of Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the age of 82.  Beverley had her family by her side when she passed along with caring staff of Dunrovin Park Lodge.  Beverley is survived by her daughter, Deborah Cawdell (Tim), daughter in law, Debbie Wheeler (Regan) and grandson Jayme Brinkert (Brett Jackson).

Bev was born April 24, 1940 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.  Beverley was the daughter of Rune Sixten Magnusson and Mabel Veronica Magnusson (Brandon).

After high school, Bev completed secretarial training which provided her the skills as a typist, stenographer and with shorthand.

Bev met and married Hans Brinkert in Vancouver, B.C. and they had two children, Deborah and Hans Edward Brinkert (predeceased). 

Bev and Hans bought land in the Milburn Lake area where they built a small farm that served as their home.  Bev was a stay at home mother with Hans (Jr.) born in 1959 and Deborah born in 1962. 

Bev and Hans divorced in 1970 which required Bev to enter the workforce.  Bev found employment with School District #28 and began working at Cariboo Junior High School as an office secretary/stenographer.  When Cariboo Junior High School burnt down, Bev moved over to Quesnel Junior High as secretary/stenographer and eventually progressed on to Librarian/Stenographer at the Quesnel District #28 library in the District Resource Centre. 

Bev worked with School District #28 for 32 years and retired as a dedicated employee and devoted mother of two children whom she had raised on her own.

Bev enjoyed working in her garden, cross-stitching, rug hooking, crow knitting, doll collecting and loved to put on delicious dinners for her friends and family.  Bev also discovered her love for travelling including Ocean Cruises to Alaska, the Caribbean and a memorable bus tour in Eastern Canada

One of Bev’s greatest enjoyments in her life was Coffee…  black… and brewed in a percolator.  Her coffee percolator seemed like it was always on and invited her friends to “pop by and have a cup, anytime”

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 AT 1:00 PM at the Quesnel Cemetery with internment to follow.

For those who wish to remember Bev in a special way, her interests were the Royal Canadian Legion (Quesnel Branch), SPCA Animal shelter, Dunrovin Park Lodge and the Kopetski family bottle drives with proceeds going to the Terry Fox foundation.
