Obituary of Norman Howard Jim

Norman Howard Jim, aged 33, of Quesnel, BC passed away suddenly on May 17, 2020. No service will be held at this time due to COVID – 19 restrictions.

Norman was born in Hazelton, BC on February 3, 1987 to Verginia Johnson and Ed Jim Sr ., Norman is survived by his wife Brandy Madland and two sons Aiden and Izaiah Jim; grandfather Ivan Johnson, grandmother Dorothea Harris, mother Verginia Johnson, father Jeff Harris, brother Edward Jim Jr, and nieces Lori Jim and Jaiicee Chantyman. He is survived by his step brothers, step sister, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews from BC to Ontario. He is preceded in death by his brother Jerry Jim, sister Kayla Jim, grandmother Eva Johnson and grandparents Mary and Peter Jim Sr.

Norman moved from Hazelton, BC to Quesnel, BC in 2002. Norman graduated from Corrielieu Secondary and started working at Canfor. When Canfor downsized he went to work for The Barkerville Heritage Trust, in April 2012, where he worked himself up to a Supervisor. Along the way he earned himself a Red Seal Carpenter Ticket, he was just finishing up his Red Seal Plumbing and numerous other tickets and awards. He was held in high regard by the people he worked with for both his work ethic and teamwork.

Norman will be sorely missed by his family, friends, co-workers and those he touched along the path of life. We will miss his infectious smile, equally infectious laugh, his appreciation of nature, his compassion for others and his kindness. Norman was always willing to help a person in need and was blessed with the patience to spend time with his children, nieces and nephews. When he was younger Norman was active in sports; volleyball, basketball and soccer. He enjoyed fishing with his sons, sledding in the winter, plumbing and carpentry work on the side, spending time with his “buds” but mostly he just enjoyed spending time with his family.

“Oh I’ll be fine; if my gray hair shows

I’ll be fine; if my waistline grows

I’ll be fine; even when time takes its toll

I’ll stay young for the rest of my life with you

I’ll stay young for the rest of my life with you

We’ll stay young for the rest of our life.”

“I will love you for the rest of my life” – Love Brandy
