I remember my friend Anna from the old laundry mat days. So many years ago, so many good memories, but most of all I remember the person she was, kind, humble always smiling that wonderful smile she had. A heart as big as a washtub, and always feeding people who came to visit with Merle and Anna to play cards, or just hang out for coffee. A wonderful family, the kind you never forget. She could be mischievous to: once she pinned one of the local RCMP constable's uniform pants tightly together at the bottom of the legs because he always teased her about how she spelled his name. She learned it perfectly and pronounced it just right when he came in. He said "well after all these months you finally remembered my name and even how to spell it, I am surprised"! "Not as surprised as you are going to be"she said never letting that famous smile fade from her face. He transferred soon after that but not before sending the safety pins back in an envelope and thanking her for making his pants safe...we never did figure that out. The sun is setting, peace has settled in the valley, time to get going, we will meet again my dear friend on that distant shore soon, I look forward to that smile. Love you, rest now, you have earned it. Your friend, Abigail
