Obituary of Margaret Evelyn Hawn
Margaret Evelyn Hawn passed away peacefully on March 23/2025 at the age of 92 in Quesnel, B.C.
Margaret was born July 15/1932 in Bassano, Alberta, to Chester and Eunice Edwards. She was one of ten children. She is survived by four remaining siblings: Sheila, Doug (Vera), Jeanne, and Kathy (Herb).
She is also, survived by her five children: Carolyn (Ray), Lorrie (Dennis), Connie (Paul), Patty (Michael), and Tom (Karen). The family tree grew to include 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. In addition, she was known as 'Grandma Hawn' by many others.
Margaret married the love of her life, Howard, on June 9/1951. They spent fifty-five and a half years together until his passing on December 30/2006. Not a day went by where Margaret didn't long for the time when she would be reunited with him. Margaret was a person of faith and held dearly to the Bible's promise of a resurrection - Acts 24:15
Cards played a big role in Margaret's life. Whether it was the ongoing daily Canasta game with Howard or her favorite, Solitaire. She would say, 'if you are ever lost, pull out a deck of cards and start playing Solitaire. Someone will come along and tell you your next move.' She was also very artistic and crafty. She painted, quilted, and did scrapbooking. She and Howard had the hobby of rock hounding together. She kept it up after he was gone. Always looking down for rocks on walks and collecting them.
Margaret spent her last years in Redwood Assisted Living and Maeford Assisted Living Residences, which she claimed was the 'best hotel she ever stayed in' and where she was affectionately referred to as 'Princess Margaret'.
Margaret was a grateful and positive person. She had a great sense of humor and a love for life. She lived a full life and made the best of her final days. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.
