Obituary of Margaret Ross

Margaret (Mickey) Ross was born in Prince Rupert, BC in 1928 and passed away peacefully in Quesnel, BC on March 13, 2025, at the age of 96.

She was predeceased by her husband Larry Ross, brother Andrew (Sonny) Murray, and son Murray Lavigne.

Mickey is survived by her daughter Kim (John) Leatherdale, Grandson Travis (Amy) Gabert, Granddaughter Marla Guldbransen, Grandson Katlin Lavigne, and Granddaughter Dayna (Randy) Lavigne; Great grandchildren Jayde, Jasmyne, Damon, Micheal and Nathan; special family members Rick and Nadine Kirby.

She spent the first 15 years of her life at Premier Gold Mine, north of Stewart, BC before returning to Prince Rupert in 1943. She started working for the pulp mill in Prince Rupert in 1960 and moved to Quesnel in 1972 to work at Cariboo Pulp & Paper as the Executive Secretary, where she worked until her retirement in 1993.

During retirement, Mickey was very involved in her church as well as volunteering in the community. She also travelled with friends to Maui, Arizona and Victoria.

Mickey’s kindness and sense of humour was contagious. She could easily put people at ease and would talk to almost anyone given the opportunity! She will be dearly missed by friends and family.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Maeford Place for their loving care of her since 2019 as well as the staff and doctors at University Hospital of the North and GR Baker Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care of Mickey in her final days.

A service for Mickey will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. John’s Anglican Church in Quesnel, BC with tea to follow at the hall.
