I met Aunty Maragret back in 2010. She tracked me down on the internet and introduced herself as my Aunt from Scotland. I hear this thick Scottish lady on the other end of the phone that sounded a lot like my Grandma but she had this friendly way about her that put me at ease and we immediately understood each other.
We got to meet for a couple days but talked at least once a month and throughout all the time we had, I would call her in the evening until she began to nod off or she would slap me with some witty remark and say she was off to bed. We always enjoyed discussing little things and her house sitting with the animals. I was inspired by her writing to create some of my own writing material. She always listened to what I was doing in my life and supported me, offering her wisdom when I had challenges in my life. She recognized my experiences and celebrated my success. This was so important to me and likely kept me working in the right direction to where I needed to be, because I felt I had stable roots.
I eventually got to that place I worked for, I wish I could have told her but she was away on holiday, but in the end I know she would be happy for me and all of us. I will miss her dearly, our nighttime calls and the hope of driving my old van up to visit. I’m grateful for the wisdom she left me and all the time I had to get to know her and understand where I came from, and her life and experiences.
Rest well Aunty Margaret
See you some sunny day :)

Auntie M with her friend Jean Hall 1944 - Auntie M 1952 Glasgow.
Requiescat in Pace Auntie!
Her favourite painting was Dali's 'Christ of Saint John of the Cross' in the Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow. Every time she went back to Scotland she would make a visit and stand there and look at it for ages. I sent her a copy a few years back. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ_of_Saint_John_of_the_Cross

She also wrote a lovely book regarding the Watson family. I sent my brother and my boys copies, had a few friends read it. They all loved it!

Great photo of her :)
I took some photos of her when she came down to Vancouver and stated about 10 years ago. Will try and upload them here.
