Jean Elizabeth Muir

Jean Elizabeth Mary Muir (Robertson)

Our dearest mom Jean Muir passed away December 28, 2020 with family by her side.

She was 95.

Born in Williams Lake to Neil and Katie (Ballion) Robertson, she grew up in Beaver Valley, Horsefly. She attended school in Horsefly and Williams Lake before studying at St Ann’s Academy in Kamloops. From there she transferred to Victoria for grades 11 & 12, and it was there she joined the Navy which took her all the way to Ottawa.

She married Reg Muir in Kamloops on May 17, 1949 and they moved to Quesnel to raise their family.

Jean was a hard worker and known throughout the community. When she wasn’t raising her 7 children at home, she was known for her friendly face at her numerous jobs. These included running the Carib Theatre and Casbar Drive-in, working the door at the Legion, and then starting her own business Jean’s Lunch Bar and Jean’s Catering. She retired in 1997 but wasn’t ready to slow down, so she sold Avon until no longer able to at the age of 94.

Each summer she enjoyed going to Quesnel Lake; first with her children, then the grandkids. Staying in a one bedroom cabin (often with up to 13 kids), that is where she passed on her stories of growing up in Horsefly. Stories of riding to Williams Lake on horse back and getting badly sunburned, and of her and her sister Kay going to the Rose Hill dance hall as she loved music. She would take the kids to areas she frequented in her youth, such as Gravel Creek and Moffat Creek Falls, and loved to watch them play in the Mud Baths (river) or accompany her on her “walks around the world” with her stories of fairies hidden in the bushes around Mystery Creek. Jean had so many stores to pass on and loved those days with the kids.

Jean also loved sitting on her deck and enjoying her numerous gardens and flowers. She loved Christmas and decorating her yard with all her lights, and she loved to give back to the community whenever she could. She was a secret Santa for over 40 years, volunteered and made baskets for all the local charities and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Reg, son James, daughter Katie, son In-law Gary Yusishen and grandson Darrin Yusishen. Also, her parents Neil & Katie Robertson, half brother Art Gibson, brother Colonel Neil Robertson, and sister Kay Hill.

She is survived by (stepdaughter) Carol (James Worthington), Terri (John Reichert), Neil Muir (Susie), Barb (Kelly Kirkham), Cyndie (Jim Swaan), Judy Yusishen, Laurie (Ted Cooper), Susan (Andy Mackenzie) , and grandkids, great grandkids and 2 great-great grandsons of which there are too many to count.

We thank all her dear friends for being there for her. We will miss her so very much but she will live on in our hearts forever.

She was our Angel on earth and now our Angel in Heaven

Luv you forever Mom.
